Many moons ago I had a trunk mounted rack that would bump against the car no matter how I mounted it. This looks....intriguing. Any real world experience?

Set up properly they work fine.

Personally I'd never buy a bike rack that need to be removed to open the hatch.

The only real benefit vs a standard hitch rack is the this design doesn't care about the frame design or if you are squeamish about strapping the bike by the toptube to transport it. Like a super light carbon frame. Which really isn't a problem unless you make it a problem with heavy handed install. As shown, on small cars they sit really low to the ground but on any installation almost completely block your view. Some don't care but I can't live with that.

That rear wheel is too close to the ground!
