(Apologies to people who will see this multiple times.)*

As many of you are no doubt aware, the new dark overlords who own*Yahoo! Groups (Verizon) decided the*service doesn't fit into their*plans, so is in the process of shutting it all down (https://slate.com/technology/2019/12/yahoo-groups-is-ending-and-verizon-is-making-it-hard-for-people-to-archive-its-content.html). To that end, the web interface to the BOBishBikesFS group was tossed out, and the group operates by email only until the end of January, when it will be terminated completely. After some emails back and forth between a few people, I volunteered to set up a new BOBishBikesFS group on Google Groups which is now live:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bobishbikesfs

Unfortunately, the subscriptions of more than half the members of the old Yahoo! group were set to "no mail," so the loss of the web interface meant that they were completely shut out of any announcements specific to that group. (Way to go, Verizon.) That is the purpose of this message. I'd like to reach as many existing members of the old group with just a few messages to large groups of like-minded bikies so I don't have to send out more invite emails than absolutely necessary to alert everyone to the availability of the new group. Obviously, even if you weren't subscribed to the old group, you are welcome to join its reincarnation.

If you have any questions or complaints, please address them directly to me via email (skip.montanaro@gmail.com). I'll do my best to respond in a timely fashion.

Thanks for doing this - I'm already a member of the internet-BoB, 650b, and RBW owners bunch, so this will be a nice one to add to the list!

So, can I ask what this is all about? BOBishBikes that is?

I'm in, because I think I know what "BOBish" means. I take it this is like our pinned "Barn Finds/Good Deals" sticky on the classifieds, but for bikes that members of the iBOB group would be interested in?

But @smontanaro, can you point out some of the evolved etiquette from the Yahoo group? What sources? Craigslist, eBay, others? What are the accepted parameters around "BOBish"?

Quick comment as my real computer is down awaiting a battery transplant.

If you look at the description for the internet-bob Google group:

https://groups.google.com/forum/?nomobile=true#!forum/internet-bob

you can read a bit about the BOB aesthetic. My interest is mostly in vintage road bikes (Classic Rendezvous material). Charles Nighbor is well known here as a poster of bikes for sale. Over the years he's posted plenty of interesting bikes to BOBishBikesFS.

It has, in my experience, rarely been a place for discussion, just listings, most from CL and eBay, but also from some arrival places. That makes it handy as a "one stop shop" for relevant listings.
