Can someone among the Serotta cognoscenti tell us what we are looking at here. It's on my local CL, but with very little info. An earlier model, obviously, but which one?

Late Colorado II,CRL, or CR is my guess given the seat stay cluster and rear dropouts. The Rear brake cable braze-ons on the tope tube would rule out early CII and suggest a CRL or CR unless they were added later. The fork does not look like an original carbon fork that would have come with the frame. If you can get a Serial Number then ID would be simple. Look at the 1994 catalogue in the catalogue subform.

Yeah, serial number would let you know for sure....

Just me, or is the seat tube decal upside down??

Also a Serotta logo on the seat stay is very unusual.

Repaint? The strange sticker placement would seem to point in the same direction.

As Daryl pointed out, split rear brake housing stops mean CR, CRL, or CSI. Not sure if early CSI used those dropouts but I don't believe they did. Could be other models if cable stops were added at time of a repaint.

Agreed on the seat tube decal and the fork...not original.

I got the serial # and it says early 1988. The sticker is an early Colorado Concept tubing one.

Could the fork be an F1?

The crimping above the fork dropouts is interesting. The F1s I've seen don't have it...

What is the exact serial number? If that bike is an 1988 build then it has gone back for a respray and had the cable stops added. Also the tubing sticker is not from 1988; is it more recent. Are the down and seat tube flared? Hard to tell from the pic.

The serial # the seller provided is 80272 ("looks like")

Hmmm. Could be a 1988 model that was referbished. If the tubes are straight then this could be an NSX.

If it weren't for the date suggested by the serial #, I would say it's a CSI. Like this one:

It does not appear to have tapered main tubes so that means it's not any of the versions of the Colorado.

Are the c-stays straight, single bend or an S bend?

Not sure what the fork is but I'm sure it's not an F1.

Looks like a Profile BRC Fork.

Well, given the Profile fork which was speced by Serotta in the late 90's, the cable stops, and the serial number I would say that this bike went back to the factory in the late 90's for a respray and to have the stops added. I have a Colorado II from 1991 that has a similar story. Mine went back in (previous owner) and came out with an F1 fork along side the original fork and had the internal brake routing closed off and external split cable stops mounted exactly like the bike in the OP. The tubing sticker is the real give away here since it is 100% not 80's vintage. I certainly agree with David Kirk about the tubes not being swaged and thus removing the chance of this being a Colorado variant. Probably an NH or NHX (Columbus SL or SLX tubing).

Nailed it!

I had one on my Waterford and liked it fine. I think it accepted slightly wider tires than the F1 on my Csi.
