I am building up my Eriksen and would like to use pre-2015 Record 11. What I have so far follows:

FR
RD
Crankset
Calipers

I am missing the Ergos/Cassette/Chain.

I am trying to source NEW/VGC Ergos. Much more difficult than I anticipated so the search goes on.

I also have a complete Chorus 10 group.

What is the best way to get this beast on the road. Could I run all the 11 speed bits if I add the 11 speed cassette and chain with the 10 speed Ergos.

I am not mechanical in the slightest so I will be paying for the build. I am trying to minimize the cost needed to incorporate the 11 speed Ergos when I finally locate them.

Thanks

Use the 10s ERGOs, then the 11s ders BUT use a 10s chain and cogset..11s cogset spacing less than 10s..shifter will move that der 10s spacing..a 11s crank(and brakes:))..will talk fine to those 10s ERGOs.

WHEN you get 11s ERGOs, THEN 11s cogset and chain..

i agree that is a good course of action.

alternatively, of course, you can just run the complete Chorus-10 group you already have.

This is a bike forum, not a rational thought forum. I got kicked out of there a long time ago. My irrational thought is that beautiful lugged frames (mine was my dearly departed Waterford 1200) demand shiny bits while oversized titanium looks best with carbon.

Thank both Peter and you for the direction!

You said "help me get on the bike ", you never said anything about making it look pretty.

Be grateful.

I feel I was in your situation I would ride it with the Chorus 10.

Then you can be more selective on the parts you are looking for and get the condition you want. Then rebuild when you get the new parts.

That way you get to enjoy the frame and then enjoy the bike all over again when you find the Record 11 parts.
