MTB suspension rebuild near Boston?

Headed for some minor surgery this week, near Boston, and will be off the bike, so a good time to have my Rockshox fork re-done. Any suggestions of a really good place to have it done?

maybe JRA Cycles in Medford

many of the other area shops not specializing in mtb send out suspension units for service instead of having the expertise to do it in house

I would have pointed you towards Hippie Tech Suspension, but it looks like they closed in 2016. They rebuilt an older Judy for me a few years ago, probably just before they closed!

I'd check with either Landry's or Belmont Wheel Works...if they don't do it inhouse, they can probably coordinate it for you...

Last I knew, the mechanic at Fast Splits in Needham was Rock Shox certified for rebuild, etc

Not an MTB shop but he used to work at JRA a few years sgo

JRA is the only place i'd trust if i didnt do it myself and wanted to pay someone to do it.

I'd never heard of Landry's Bikes, as big as they are now, when I grew up in Newton and did both grad and undergrad in Cambridge. I'll make calls tomorrow. I knew of JRA, they've gotta be the gold standard.

Just another endorsement for JRA - great shop.

No service experience at Belmont Wheel Works, but have purchased a couple of things there and they were extremely helpful and easy to work with. So I wouldn't hesitate to go there either.

+1 for Belmont as a backup to JRA. I would stay away from Landrys...

Made some calls, ended up feeling JRA is the right choice. Beyond their deep experience and focus on MTBs, it seems that they are the ones most likely to do what's needed and not over-work the job.

Dropped my fork and shock off Saturday afternoon at JRA and got the call just now (Tuesday) that they are about to ship them back to me. Derrick is the head wrench and was great to deal with. They did what was needed in their eyes after getting them apart - full rebuild on the fork, and service on the shock. Seem very knowledgeable and thoughtful. Price was at or below what other dealers quoted me, too.

I've had very good experience with Landry's. The Natick shop now has the ability to rebuild MTB shocks and forks in-house. The current crop of mechanics is good.

I have previously had JRA do work for me and have been disappointed plus being expensive—glad your experience was better. I’ve used Landry’s in Natick for dropper rebuild and rear shock rebuild and have been very satisfied(ibis Ripley). Trailwerks in MD mail out for fork and same day turn around.

Maybe it’s because I’m spoiled living else where, but I’m consistently disappointed in Boston shops.
