For immediate release:

What do you get when you cross 9 American framebuilders with 30 or more years of experience, a set of Pacenti Original Lugs, a Columbus tubeset, Richard Sachs dropouts, a Campagnolo Record Group, Phil Wood Hubs, Screen Specialties Shop Ink Graphics, The North American Handmade Bicycle Show and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation?

You get a full custom road bicycle, handcrafted by a group of men with some of the most experience building bicycle frames on earth. We hand selected 9 bicycle framebuilders based on quality, craftsmanship, reputation and artistic impression to build a 1 of a kind bicycle frame that each builder will contribute a small portion to the overall frame.

The frame will be custom fit for the winner and each lug and joint will be detailed by one artisan. Imagine having a 1 of a kind bicycle that has over 290 years of combined experience that handcrafted it. Imagine the details of the hand carved lugs. Imagine the ultra smooth finish with the color of your choice on this, the ultimate handcrafted bicycle.
Would you ride it? Would you place it behind a glass box for all to look at, but none to touch? The possibilities are endless.

Legendary framebuilders like Brian Baylis, Roland Della Santa, Doug Fattic, Bruce Gordon, Tom Kellogg, Andy Newlands, Mark Nobilette, Richard Sachs and J.P. Weigle have all decided to work together for this one bicycle, a bicycle to benefit a great cause.

The concept is quite clear. Never has a group of artisans have worked together in this manner, yet they have all decided to contribute to this one of a kind project bicycle.
The proceeds will benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Raffle tickets are $20 each or 12 for $200 with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity.
Drawing will be held at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show on March 3rd at 4 PM. Winner need not be present to win, but, if they would like to be fit for the frame and meet the builders in attendance, is always a plus.

Tickets may be purchased via our website, handmadebicycleshow.com beginning January 4th 2007. Get your tickets now! Your donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is important in helping find a cure for this disease.

Notes:
“Project Tessa” is the official name of this charity bicycle. The project is named after NAHBS Founder and President Don Walker’s daughter Tessa. Tessa contracted juvenile diabetes when she was 5 years old. She maintains her blood sugar several times daily and is now 16 years old and living with Diabetes.

Who's going to handle design and fitting? It's great to have so many artisans working together but who is going to make sure the thing is designed right and rides right?

This would be one awesome prize to win!

Bill Boston called me last night and offered his fitting services with his program or in person if you are at the show. Accufit Designer is a software program that he developed specifically for fit.
However, you are free to choose among any of the builders, iirc, for your fitting.
