We celebrated our decade by cracking open a decade-old bottle of bubbles last night. This was a gift someone gave us for some consulting work I did. I dont feel so good this mornig.

Basically, our situation. I had forgotten about until I found it hiding Christmas gifts. It is unique and special but I’m glad I didn’t pay for it.

Calvin and Hobbs was one of the best. I’ve been given a couple of bottles of Dom over the years and it’s really a treat but I’d never buy it myself.

Doesn’t the cartoon say 12-28 in the bottom of the last panel ? Bear- are you saying it was published on 12-30 ? I thought cartoonists put in the date for publication not when it was drawn as that’s usually a week or more beforehand .

Technically, the next decade doesn't start until the end of next year.

Well, Hobbs only say's "coming up", he could mean the end of next year ;) ;)

He's right, though.

You start counting at the number one and reach the end of a decade at the number ten, not the number 9. There was no Year Zero.

These demarcations of time, including defining a year zero (or one) are completely arbitrary. Every instant marks the beginning of a new decade.

Based on this logic, I reached my 10th year when I turned 11. Also, we are in the 20th century, not the 21st. And 20th Century Fox should have trademarked 19th Century Fox, which then would have changed the title of the .38 Special song and maybe even the band should be .37 Special.

The (literally) endless debate.
Even after 200+ pages of esoterica, by just one author, there just is no single correct answer:
Questioning The Millennium, Stephen Jay Gould (https://www.docdroid.net/LMO64Nw/questioning-the-millennium-stephen-jay-gould.pdf)

Enjoy.
