It's a heartwarming video but it is a national tragedy (and a national disgrace) that thousands of koala's and countless other animals have been killed in the bushfires that have been burning here since Spring. The ones that are left face a very bleak future because the trees where they live have been burnt so there's no food. There are groups who are providing watering and feeding stations where animals are left but it will be a miracle if we have any koala's left in 50 years. Experts are already saying that they're on the verge of being "functionally extinct".

But according to the govt climate change isn't a factor. F-wits

Quote from the ABC:

"On Friday, Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley told AM that an estimated 30 per cent of koalas on the New South Wales mid-north coast had died in the fires so far."

Just heard the same info on the news here too.
Absolutely terrible.

I heard years ago that koalas shouldn't even need to drink liquid water because the leaves they eat provide all the water their bodies need.

"According to one Frankston Animal Shelter, you can kill a koala by pouring water from a bottle - as they don’t drink like that, if at all."
