View Full Version : Bibs and the cold-weather effect

Known phenomenon: on cold weather rides, I have to pee more often. Also known fact: my best winter bib tights (Bonka) come up too high in the front, and even with the zipper, I have to fish deep to get the equipment our for relief. Not a problem with summer bib shorts, which seem to be cut lower in front. Logical that winter bibs are cut higher, but none I have seen (Peari Izumi, Assos, Castelli, etc) seems designed with bladder relief in mind. Suggestions?

all of my winter bibs have a zipper that unzips downward... yours doesnt?
its still a bit of a reach, but its lycra, its stretches.

The Assos does, but it ends at about the navel--I have to contort to reach major plumbing. I have an old Performance bib that is more stretchy but not as warm.

Same problem with the Santinis. Perhaps you could have an extension put on the 'equipment'? Take a bit of skin from the elbow or back of your knee to increase hose length?

I wear regular wool tights, not bibs, with suspenders. Works great.

Not to mention the cold which exacerbates the distance problem with some gents.

Try Mavic. They have a zipper and are well made. I bend slightly at the waist when going. Don't want to pee on the Sidi's!

Thanks. That would make me more matchy-matchy, since I already have Mavic thermal booties, which are great.
Not to correct any of my brothers, but I thought the proper terminology is
"going over the fence"? I have not had a problem with the zippered Rapha stuff.

Non-bib shorts and tights.
Or wait until you have diarrhea; that will make you a convert.

Yes, the Costanza effect.
