I am using several of the Q36.5 "L1" pieces (ie.vest/bibs/jerseys etc.). Pretty nice; could be improved.

I have not tried the Gregarious model bib but would say give 'em a try if the price is attractive.

Been in Assos since 2002 and would not say they had been 'eclipsed' or anything.

I'm curious about the Q36.5 but can't make any sense of the naming conventions - anyone have a cheat sheet for the different models?

Yes- they have spendy, expensive, and "holy $h*t!".

When I bought mine last year they only had two, or maybe three models and they explained how they differed. Now they have updated, possibly over-designed versions where they only describe the updates, plus some new versions. I guess it's all about product "life cycle"
The gregarious were sort of the traditional fitting shorts-not hammock style like the Assos S7. FWIW I like both these shorts, though I prefer the gragarious. The fit of the various models and comparisons with Assos was described in excruciating detail by others in a lengthy thread last year. I found those descriptions to be spot-on, regarding the gragarious at least-the compression and comparison with Assos. My recollection is that the Dottore were significantly different. The material is not a standard lycra and is less stretchy. Even more compression. You can sort of see it in close ups.

Edit: I guess it was two plus years ago. https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=201469&highlight=Q36.5

The Q36.5 looks very well considered but oh so pricey, wow. I've been in Assos as well for a decade. An aspect of Assos which appeals to me is that the fabric doesn't wear out or become "translucent" like , say, castelli or PI, or their ilk. The color can fade over years, but not wear through. I like both the comfort and the value proposition.

I am in to try the Q. Looking at GREGARIUS ULTRA BIB SHORTS. I wear a large in Assos since I am tall but lanky so I am guessing the Q sizing would be the same. As they say, size up for Euro kit. Anyone have this model and opinions on sizing?

I think you are good with a large if you are a large in Assos. I’m a medium in Assos and Q.

Wouldn’t it all depend on what line of Assos you’re talking about?
I did a Large in F1 UNO S5 but had to step up to the Mille line in S7 to fit in a Large.

Sounds plausible. I am a large in Assos T Equipe Evo. I checked some of my other kit like Castelli Endurance, Velocissimo and those are large. I have found what I want in my size so the cash will flow.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with the Termica (or the updated Termica X) jackets in silver colour? I'm really tempted to buy one, but some reviews mention that the silver fabric is rather too delicate and prone to wearing off due to rubbing/scratching, or even washing. If that is indeed the case, I guess I'd be better off going for the Termica in black perhaps.
And does it have any kind of fleece-like layer on the inner side? I tend to run cold in winter and only go for low-intensity rides, so I wonder how warm this jacket actually is around freezing point.

I had one of these - I found it overly technical without any real added benefit vs other jackets I have tried in terms of warmth or function. I did not put many miles in it but had no issues with material wear. Personally, I would go with something else. For context, I use the Rapha softshell now in similar conditions but also have my eyes on the jackets with polartec alpha insulation. The rapha jacket is the right amount of technical, the q36.5 is over designed.

Anyone with longer term opinions of Q bibs? I have Assos and have no complaints. After multiple years, they look and feel the same as when they were new.

I have a buddy that has Q. I like the stuff (I have one of their vests). However, his bibs after heavy rotation are looking like crap. Seems like the fabric on the thighs is breaking down. I was a bit surprised given that Q was born from Assos.

Anyone else seeing the Q bibs break down after a few years use?

It seems to me that Assos wins on durability. Am I missing something?

Q36.5 L1 Essential bib fabric longevity has been very good for me (2pr). And I like the compression. Don't love the pad. But they sure give you a lot of it.

Bought another Assos bib with the wiener hut and like that a bit less :(

wiener hut

Lol. I've heard mixed reviews on this "feature". I'm not sure what to think and it makes me nervous to think about buying the current offerings given the price.

I just leave my Assos for longer rides to keep them newish and skip buying for a bit.

I have had no issues with durability vis a vis other bib brands and mine are still going strong after several years. That said, these dont see quite as heavy rotation as others. In general it seems to me that cycling clothing as a whole has become less durable over time and that applies to assos bibs too...

I've ridden Assos for decades, Q36.5 for a couple of years.

I have three years on the Q36.5 Salopette Dottore L1 bibs. They look brand new.

I have one season on the Gregarius Ultras. They look brand new.

I prefer the Dottore by a smidge. Not sure it's worth the upcharge though.

Everyone is different but to me Assos has gone downhill since the S5 line. I don't like the codpiece look of the S7 Equipe and above or the S9 with the codpiece and the odd straps. I have a pair of S7 Neo Pros that I like. My four year old S5 fi.Mille are still going strong though and look new even after I was taken out by a kamikaze dog a couple of years ago. If anyone sees the S5 bibs on sale somewhere I'll thank you for a link.

The pads are about even; both are excellent. I think the Rapha pad might be a bit better (I have the Pro Team bibs) but the Rapha straps are not as comfortable.

I wear a medium in both Assos and Q36.5, although the Q36.5 medium is a bit smaller than the Assos medium.

I also have two pairs of the Castelli Free Aero. Comfortable but they look ratty after one year and die after two. Assos and Q and Rapha are all effectively less expensive.

I have the SALOPETTE DOTTORE L1 bibs. the chamois felt great out the box. It also makes my butt look great and not like I have a giant pad under me (like Rapha or MAAP). I feel fast when wearing these.

But they are my only bibs where its starting to wear on the inner thigh. I don't have too much mileage on them (700 miles?). My other bibs which are in much heavier rotation don't have any fabric pilling. These also make a squeaky noise against the seat when new.

I will still buy another pair when on I wear these out because my ass looks the best in them.

Only one season in the Gregarius Ultras so far and no complaints (but I use them in rotation with other shorts). I hope there won't be any issues with premature wear because I quite like them

Did you also have any issues (e.g. not warm enough) or was it just that you thought it was overpriced and/or overdesigned?
I'm hesitating/trying to choose from among: the Q36.5 Termica X, the Sportful Fiandre Cabrio, and possibly the Assos Mille GT Ultraz (Evo or non-Evo older version). The Sportful is considerably less expensive, but the Termica and the Assos can be found on sale.

Been wearing Q36.5 since they were first available ( 5-6 years?) so all are 1st generation.
4 pair Gregarius almost look new
2 pair L1 color is starting to fade
The L1 fabric feels great but in my experience not as durable as the Gregarius
Tried several brands including Assos and these feel the best for me

My Essential bibs have been in steady rotation for going on 5 years now. Still look new. I would put them on par with Assos for durability.

I own a pair of Q36.5 Dottore bib shorts which I really like. The only area I feel that could be improved on is the genitals which is very tight and slightly uncomfortably on longer rides.

I noticed the there are two new models Dottore X and Unique which their marketing would indicate improvements in the genitials area.

Anyone with experience of these new shorts care to offer an opinion?

As a reference I’ve got the Assos S9 bibs which have the kuku penthouse which are incredibly comfortable in that area, however I can’t get on with their floating chamois or short leg length.

Q36.5 is an interesting brand. Since ‘17 I have accumulated a few of their pieces and i am impressed overall, with just one piece that had a fabric issue. The absolute best in my opinion are the base layers. I like their bibs and I virtually have changed exclusively to riding their stuff.

I just saw that they are coming out with SHOES. I have not seen any pictures yet, but reports are that they will be not surprisingly priced in the higher end of the commercial shoe spectrum, ie., above $450, like lets say top Fizik, Spech, Sidi.

You all have convinced me to give the Q36.5 bibs a try. I wear almost exclusively Rapha bibs in size medium... any input as to what a Rapha size M translates to in Q36.5 sizing? I’m 5’11, 170lbs for reference.

agreed! they are the same fit as pro team bibs, compression is similar

obliques aka love handles are slightly lower than rapha, fwiw

im not the slimmest in that area and rapha girdles me better in that region 😇

A bit more info on the shoes: So a Canadian website had posted the pics below, but since then they were taken down. On the other hand Swinnerton has now the shoes listed for sale, without stock in hand though. Interestingly the pics there look pretty bad compared to the ones below :-P
They look, to me, as a mix between Bont and Spech shoes.
I am shoe-curious and interested.
