Time to start buying parts for my Team Nerac Love #3! I’m starting with the cockpit, and I’m feeling pretty firm about most of the pieces:

Bars – 3ttt Forgies (from my stash)
Stem – Oval Concepts R700, black
Tape – Fizik, white
Saddle – Fizik Aroine, white and silver

It’s the seatpost that I’m debating. It’s got to be 31.6, and have a decent amount of setback (25mm-ish.) The obvious choice is the Oval Concepts R700. Collar and cuffs, and all that… But I keep having visions of a Campy Chorus carbon post. There’s just something about it that seems perfect for this frame.

And then there’s the logo thing. There’s not going to be a whole heck of a lot of the post showing. (The attached pic is the obtuse build that I test-rode in the fall.) If the graphic is going to be partially buried in the seat tube, I’d probably want to remove the whole thing. I get the impression it’s pretty simple to remove the logo from the Oval Concepts post using nail polish remover. How about removing the Campy logo from the Chorus post? Can it be done without damaging the finish?

So, R700 or Chorus? And how do I remove the logos?

Many thanks for your opinions and experiences. And Happy New Year!

I'm liking the looks of this Reynolds post. Good setback, micro-adjustable, and it comes in 31.6. And you can play matchy-matchy with a Reynolds fork.

Unfortunately, I fear that removing logos from a carbon post may be difficult if they are underneath the clearcoat.

Happy New Year - looking forward to seeing the finished bike!

Deda. If it needs to be carbon / color must be black? Otherwise talk to Albert Bold and tell him what the setback should be pal. Nice ride btw :)

Mosca,

Thanks for the suggestion. Another carbon possibility is a Ritchey, but the Campy is really the only one with any mojo, atmo.

TT,

Black is beautiful. No Bold for me on this one.

It is a nice ride. Won't be on the road until summer, I'm afraid. Poor me - have to make due with a Serotta and a Seven for the next few months... It should be clear that I'm enjoying a bit of obsessing about this build, though. Keeps me out of trouble.

That reynolds post would be nice, the logo is high up, so that could work.

But there's always the "Magic" campy seat post logo remover...

PMP carbon is the only way to go, I say!

The shaft is a beautiful carbon weave with no logos and the clamp is micro adjustable in the same fashion as the Thomson clamps.

A nice carbon post that is very functional and has nice setback is the Bontrager carbon post. The design is very easy to adjust.............. although the graphics are a bit gawdy.

Another good choice would be the Selcof 92X...Selcof is always a good choice for seatposts

The Kuips Phey is nice, but it's still got the logo issue. Same thing with the Bontrager and the Selcof. If the Selcof was deep enough into the seattube, I might be able to convince onlookers that I'd had my last name printed on it (at least the first few letters...)

Thomson? I need setback. Forget it. The Miche Supertype? Umm. No.

the PMP, on the other hand... Yum. We may have a winner.

Hee Hee, he's vulnerable. The fur hat and velvet shoes are next.

What's wrong with a velvet hat and fur shoes, atmo?
