Looking at the colour of the Chris King Bourbon parts and trying to decide if the headset and BB would look good on my Speedvagen.

Here is the bourbon parts and my bike

I could go either way. Clash or no clash.

No, it'd look like you're trying way too hard.

You already have a stem painted to match, anything you do from here on out is just squeezing more cream around the cherry, do whatever you want.

I personally would not spend the money on that but I think it would look nice. I like the bourbon parts

i like matchy/matchy, but not in this application with those parts.

the risk you run is that the king stuff wont look exactly like you think it will in the pictures, and the whole front end might look "off" with slightly different shades.

also king stuff notoriously fades in the sun, so there is that to consider over time.

i wouldnt do it here.

I'm a no. Headset is a good spot for a splash of contrast.

Hard to judge from the little pic of the bike, but it looks to me like the shades ARE off a little.
Way too distinct of a color to be off IMHO.

the black already coordinates pretty well. Punt on the new bourbon CK bling.

I'm a yes.

I think it would stand out better than the black currently does.

Plus it's your bike......build it how YOU want to. That's one of the great things about personalizing your bikes, cars, etc. It's YOUR taste......not others.

I don't get why Chris King doesn't make matching seatpost clamps. The BB is not all that visible. Color on the headset could stick out like a sore thumb and seem out of place. Not always possible to find another brand of seatpost clamp with a matching color.

The potential gain in aesthetics has a low mean and wide enough variance that I would direct the cash toward something else.

I think it's gonna clash. Pass.

Being an indecisive but visual person I always do a down and dirty photoshop to settle such decisions. Here ya go - took 30 secs.

I vote keep it black ;)

Only if you are going to do the hubs also, otherwise no, stick with black.

Kinda cool color, but not for that bike.

I wonder how that headset would look on an unpainted ti bike with a black stem, leaving the spacers black.

agree with everyone...not on your bike. Black is best.

I like how bourbon works on this bike: https://bicyclespeedshop.co/builds/mc-bss-rs-1d/

not for this
but for my SV—bronze paint
maybe?
It already has matching stem and hubs!

It is a landslide - NO, was thinking that as well, but wanted others to confirm my opinion.

I'd rather go with silver..if you don't like black.
But it still looks great with a black headset.

Planning on using them this way for an unpainted Moots build this winter.

I think he made the right choice with a pass. Not enough of a contrast or match on his bike to merit the purchase.

Going with the majority here, I think that particular shade of brown wouldn't quite go with the rest of the OP's bike. This Speedvagen (https://theradavist.com/2019/11/speedvagens-limited-edition-bourbon-og-1-disc/) on the Radavist manages to pull it off. Photo too big to insert, but the bike is mustard yellow, single color.

The bike rst linked doesn't quite do it for me. I'm not sure I like that bourbon with the blue, white, and black. It's not quite that it's too busy, more like the color doesn't quite go with the rest of the bike in my eyes. Naturally, these things are in the eye of the beholder, and sometimes more is more.

I just got matte bourbon parts on my new Seven and they are beautiful--but not right for this bike.

thread drift: Agave Finishworks can anodize titanium cages in bronze. I think it’s pretty close to the CK bourbon. Thoughts?

I’d stick with the black. It’S a nice understated classic look for that bike.

Hmm, that matte looks quite nice with the finish on the Seven. Ti?

I think if you got your front teeth plated the same color, it would work. However, as Angry noted earlier, Chris King components tend to fade in the sun, so over time they would not match unless you smile a lot.

Yes, RedSky SL titanium.
