It seems like a really cool bike. In case anyone is contemplating one, the price is going up 500 Euros next year, so use that as an excuse to order now.

It is telling that it is all about colors and some custom metal plate on the top tube but not a word about what tube set(s) was/were used and why.

Not interested

How many potential customers actually understand differences between frame tube specifications, vs how many understand what different paint jobs look like?

Not interestedAlso nothing about the lugs. But we're told a lot about the component choices. I don't care that the owner loves electronic shifting.

A Campagnolo group would have been nicer... :)

Like the colors. Agree that we need the tubing info.

Wonder if the frame was chromed under it or is just silver with candy colors, saying this because you can't chrome carbon... either way is just fantastic...

I'm baffled why Anthony decided to save a few bucks and not get the Power Meter crank.

He really should have consulted with you first.

Anthony blew it...

Not sure what the fuss is about. The video was likely made to generate interest in the Portofino, and to show that personalization is possible. Tubeset is Columbus HSS. Pretty sure anyone who is seriously contemplating one would visit the website and find that out.

Mmm, cromovelato.

If you've got the budget for a Columbus HSS custom Battaglin with cromovelato paint and Red AXS and WTO Campy wheels, the difference on the power meter is a rounding error to the cost of the bike at that point.

Just strange is all.

He just committed treason by putting etap on his all Italian bike.

And if you have no need for a power meter it's best to leave it off, otherwise it's just a piece of jewelry.

That's all.

Sure thing, I can hear it crying from here..:)

PLUS

the green and red need to be greener and redder...

tough winter crowd. Its a video about a bike this dude wanted to make but here we are upset because there was no discussion on tubing and that he should have spend more money to get a PM that he prob would not use.

Bike is pretty cool. Bataglin is making nice bikes and some good prices (sure I bet this one was pretty expensive with paint job). I like the axs of course, I would pick it over EPS any day of the week but yes, EPS would have looked better.

It was a nice video that shows a little Italian bike builder that cares, and who has someone on staff who speaks good English.

I’m sure they don’t get an opportunity to build out a complete bicycle everyday, let alone a top shelf build, and took half a day to leverage the opportunity to make a short video.

I doubt many successful pharma execs want to hear about the tubing or lugs.

The most offensive part of the video was the cheesy Star Wars quote on the metal plate. You almost had a perfect bike Mr. Anthony!

Chromovelato. Didn't even know that was an option these days.

Gorgeous.

And here's a snippet of how it's done. Would've loved to see more.

I like the finish on the bike. They should change the Italian flag to cromovelato. The front wheel clearance on the down tube suggests the geometry is a bit weird.

Don't need a power meter to ride down to the cafe

Chromovelato is amazing looking. I'd love to have about a dozen bikes in all different colors of this finish.

Same. I'm bookmarking Battaglin for potential future bucket list just for this purpose.

A very long time ago I had a blue Colnago with that finish. Stunning to look at, for sure, but if you looked at it hard enough or angered the Colnago frame angel, a paint chunk would fall off. :p

That would be tough to deal with but hopefully, it is Colnago specific. (Doubt it though).

Nice looking bikes. Did not understand this statement on the website:

"After a 20-year break, he’s now back to brazing steel frames, just like he used to do before aluminum and carbon became the de facto standard for bicycle production."

When was aluminum ever the defacto standard for bicycle production?

Jeff

Starting about 20 years ago and continuing through today, aluminum and carbon are the only two materials the major manufacturers are selling for their road frames.

Not familiar with that tubeset...massive TT though.
