Hi All,

I bent up 3 spokes of the front wheel, Dura Ace 9100 C24. I've read the dealers manual for this wheelset and cannot figure out which spokes I need or where to find them. Before I head to the LBS and have them figure it out....any ideas?

Thanks.

Looking at the shimano tech docs..it looks like a 283mm straight pull spoke unless it's a tubular which is a threaded at both ends, spoke.

'9000' series but I think the same as 9001.

Thanks! Any reason I need to get the shimano replacement spokes? They are $50 for set of 16.

I'm 'pretty sure' that they are just straight pull spokes..BUT, I'd take one of the bent ones out..SAVE the proprietary nipple!!, and compare the head to a standard straight pull spoke, like a Sapim CXRay or DT equivalent.

I may have a few SP CXRay that I 'may' be able to cut, thread to 283...I'll check.

Is it worth the risk?

My $.02: suck it up and buy the right thing(s) from Shimano. That way you KNOW it'll fit.

out of curiosity - how'd you do that?

I think it was some small sticks or wood pieces lying on side of road I ran over. I heard a snap bang and checked the fork and front end to make sure all was ok. Seems like the spokes took the force and bent.

Yep, I think you're right. I can only find them for sale from Amazon and for 9000 series. Strange how the spoke set isn't available from all the usual places.

LBS can get them from shimano, USA...I know 'LBS' can be a 4 letter word here sometimes but...:)

Thanks all, I wanted to do it myself, but LBS is where I'll go.

You can still DIY

...tho I think the nipples are 'backwards' like Mavic's. Had to true a pair of C24s today, actually

I trued it up and it's almost perfect, just with one/two bent spokes. LBS ordered the Shimano spokes so I will replace when they come in. Doesn't look as straightforward as I'm used to with older wheels but I have the diagrams and should be good! Thanks for the help all.

Total Cycling in the UK has Shimano C24 spokes for like $4.30 each:

Note, nipple NOT included, so heed Peter’s advice to save the nipples.

Good Luck!

IIRC Shimano spokes/nipples are thicker gauge and can carry more tension than a conventional spoke. The rims are reinforced around the nipples too. Partly why they don't have weight limits and a 2 year warranty.
