I sold my stuff at BH Photo. You don’t get as much as you would via a private sale but it is completely hassle free. In my case I grew tired of the drawbacks to private sales.

I reckon BH Photo gives you around 20% less than you might see in a private sale but you get a cheque that you know is not going to bounce :)

If you use a forum that specializes in your brand of camera, you would do well to try there. Places like Nikonians or Nikon Cafe for example.
