Sort of parady/spoof thread... Curious to see what people are doing with their gravel/all terrain bikes when set up for street.

Plus I just got my new WTO wheels and am super stoked. Really glad I finally went with the two wheel sets approach. Needed just a tiny shim on my rear wheel... now I can hot swap no prob...

Bora's are my favorite wheels... maybe of all time. So far these are pretty amazing. Need more time in the saddle, but I can say beyond a doubt that they definitely are nicer in crosswinds. Today was a rather windy day in the city, with the Bora 35's you can feel a sudden tug sometimes by the wind. Not horrible, but it ca be grabby. The WTO's feel more like a gentle brush or soft nudge.

Anyways.. here they are. Sorry for the 5hit photos.. my rear camera broke on my phone, using the front facetime camera.

I don't really have a paved-specific mode.
Most of the gravel around here is rocky, not muddy, so I typically stick with performance-oriented wide slicks (Rat Trap Pass EL). Coupled with the road fit, the bike isn't too shabby as a road bike. I take it on spirited paved road rides sometimes, for the fun variety; between the geometry and the tires, it feels very different from a more traditional road bike. And other people seem to be entertained by its bizarre and vaguely beach-cruiser-esque appearance.

One of my favorite rides this year was when I started a spirited road ride and split off partway through into a gravel ride, which wouldn't have been feasible on a different bike: the gravel would have been a disaster on skinny tires, I would have been dropped from the road ride within the first mile if I'd been on my hardtail, and the timing didn't allow for getting anywhere to swap bikes.

Multiple configurations might be more urgent if I was running an N=1 stable. But I can hop onto a skinny-tired bike if I feel like riding skinny tires.

I rode this year's Six Gap (I did Three Gap) on my Lauf True Grit, riding 700c X 38 tires. While it took a little more effort to get through corners, the wide tires cornered like a motorcycle, and I lost count of how many times I heard, "I wish I had YOUR gears."

Yeah, an Eagle cassette is great in the mountains.

I've got a set of Altamonts with 32 ReFuse tires I use on the road.

Yeah but most of the gravel I ride is pretty manicured/hard pack so haven't had the need to adjust my position much other than less time in the drops and I just sit up more

I just converted mine back to gravel use. And then a week later rode it 100 km on the road. The difference is for road I have 40mm slicks and fenders. On gravel I'm using 40mm Gravelking SK that are enough larger that the fenders don't work. The GK's roll fine on the road but they are a little noisy.

i didnt like the way it rode like this so now i just keep the same tires and wheels on for every ride. swapping anything before a ride is a hassle. its cool that you can like, build up a frame a bunch of different ways depending on your riding style, but i dont think it should be a selling point either. id rather have something do one thing really well than one thing do a bunch of different things halfassed.

Apologies for the massive size. Seems I have a choice between tiny and enormous pictures.

Wow, I never realized how stout the top and down tubes were on the Ti/Carbon hybrid frames–almost like they were full-carbon. The Ti-only frames don't come that large do they?
