I have the Cygolite Metro with the helmet mount but I find the velcro strap does tend to slip forward on my helmets and the weight of the light and mount itself makes the whole helmet shift forward.

Are there any lightweight lights with a decent beam on the market?

The few I've seen so far look as bulky as what I have now.

Cateye is solid if 100 Lm is enough

Is this a primary light or auxiliary? at 100 Lumen it wouldn't cut it for me as a primary commuter.

It's light...

Current one is 500 lumens so looking for something comparable. And it would be the primary.

Yeah it's gonna be tough to get a ton lighter? What do the L&M ones weigh?

Maybe you need a lighter helmet? ;-)

Current Diablo is 1850lm and 120g. Joystick is 1050lm and 93g. Both are excellent lights. You can program the output levels to suit your desired brightness vs. runtime. Their helmet mount is bulletproof and will not slip or lose the light. I've used Exposure lights for years and never had a single issue.

Is this intended to be a night-riding reading lamp for cue sheets and computers, or is this for illuminating the road? If it's a reading lamp you want, the Fenix LD02 is small, light and easy to velcro onto a helmet; also it has a low power setting that helps preserve your night vision.

I use the NiteRider Micro 600 with the optional NiteRider helmet mount. Paired with a handlebar light, it's been perfect for all of my night MTB and winter fatbike riding.

The newer version is comes in 650 or 850 lumens. $15 difference.

My Cygolite Metro is 106 grams and the mount 25 grams.
Not much, but enough to shift things around.

I haven't been in the market for lights for a while so was wondering if there was anything new, lighter and sleeker.

Since most of the riding is in the city, it's more for being seen since street lights are a plenty. The Metro does illuminate pretty far. I can see street lights a couple blocks away flashing in the strobe mode.
