Howdy --

Have any of you in the Bay Area worked with a local cycling coach? My initial online search hasn't turned up too much. In thinking about my goals for 2007, it occurred to me that a coach might help -- even if just to plan out a training schedule. I rode about 6k miles and my first double century this past year, and am aiming to do three of them next year. I know I could make my own plan, but would probably learn a lot by working with someone more experienced.

Thanks!

Steven

Ari Bronstein at City Cycle.

I have not had him as a coach, but I have friends who have had great results with him (too good!). From personal experience I can say he is a good guy and a fantastic fitter.

Thanks, guys, that's helpful. I met Max Testa once at the U.C. Davis sports medicine clinic, and had a nice chat with him in Italian. Also had a fitting at City Cycle once before, and know they get it there. I'll give the others a call to see who's the best fit.

Not a "pro" name, but you could also try Curtis Cramblett - you should be able to get his number at revolutionsinfitness.com. I think he would be especially good if you're training for long rides. He's not only a cycling coach, but also a physical therapist. He's located in San Jose.

Oops, just went back and noticed you're in Berkeley - I believe Curtis works in the East Bay one day a week, but I'm not sure where. Somewhere in the 510 area code.
