I left my Ibex wool liner gloves somewhere on the trail last month in the White Mtns :-(
What's a comparable liner glove, that you wear by itself in cool weather, and inside something else when it's really cold?

REI has their own proprietary brand and they have a really thin wool liner glove that i have used both independent and as a liner with Gore winter gloves. They were pretty inexpensive too if I remember correctly

I'll be watching the responses.
Ibex is sorely missed in my cycling circles.
Quality wool products at good prices, a hole is left unfilled.

The fit can be weird but I think the Defeet gloves are better than the Ibex and I have had a number of pairs of the Ibex.

SmartWool socks have changed manufacturing sites and are now complete junk.
Their wool shirts, hats, and thin gloves are still reasonably decent...for now.

They are not wool but I have a range of Outdoor Research fleece gloves in weights of 100, 150, 200, 300, and 400. I choose the weight appropriate for the conditions. Not super expensive if you get them on sale.

Try Icebreaker...I got a pair from them to line my winter gloves and they're very nice.

Defeet are great by themselves but quite heavy to get something over them. I have a Rapha pair that is quite thin.

I haven't tried any other brands but I really like the Patagonia liner gloves.

Agree I have these they are nice liners. Defeet are a little thick as a liner glove imo., but love that type of knit, grippy glove in 45-55 range when you can wear just by themselves.

Thanks All!
The Icebreakers look to be the closest to the Ibex I left on the trail.

I'm playing with liners right now. I tend to wet them out then my hands get cold, so I carry a few pairs per ride and swap them around under a windstopper shell (spring weather glove).

I've tired Merino33 brand, they're cheaper and last.
Defeet were too thick and had too much palm silicone

I'm of the opinion that one thing I'm of the opinion that one job of the liner is to push the shell away from your hand and not compress. Wool isn't great at that, along with silk and a few other fabrics. I'm experimenting with some powerstretch liners, which seem to have a lot of structure.

Has anyone tried gloves made from possum fur?
I am curious about these.
Apparently the fur is excellent, warmer and lighter than merino and also very durable...at least several reviews state so.

Ibex is coming back, soon.

This appears to be true. I've received a couple of emails from them they are in the process of setting the wheels in motion again.

Is this serious? Possum fur?

This is a joke, right?

Not at all.
Apparently possums are a huge "rodent problem" in NZ/AUS/TAS, and so an entire industry has evolved using the fur of the trapped/killed animals.

I have not seen or tried any gloves yet, but I am curious about them, which is why I asked here. Reviews state the fur is excellent for the purpose.

Not a joke, my wife has a possum fur hat.
