I just picked up a sweet front Phil hub radially laced to a Mavic rim, complete with an old Panaracer still glued....all for a whopping $20. Yea for me!

So my question is this: The tire still holds air just fine, but it's almost 20yrs old. No cracks in the sidewall and the tread is almost perfect. I'm not planning on using it for anything beyond casual riding every now and again, but I hate to throw away what seems like a decent tire. Do you think it's got some life left of am I just playing with fire?

I'll definitely re-glue it if I decide it's worth it, but I wanted to get some opinions on if it's even worth the hassle.

20 years is too old for a Panaracer...even if it were properly stored. It may hold air, but when you start riding it, it will cave like a cheap accordian....

Good to know....I'll yank it off and start scrimping some pennies for a new Veloflex.

Yellow Jersey has a great deal on tires, 3/$50 in a decent moderate weight tubular.
