Anyone got a favorite workaround for getting a Campy Record 11sp FD fitted on a 28.6mm seat tube?
I see Fairwheel Bikes carries KCNC mounts (https://fairwheelbikes.com/kcnc-front-derailleur-clamp/) in that size, but curious if anyone has better suggestions for the intended application. Whatever solution minimizes potential paint/dent damage is prioritized. Gonna be running Record 11sp cranks with 50/34 rings.

They sell shims to make the larger diameter clamps fit 28.6 seat tubes.

I am using a Parlee carbon clamp.

I have a Problem Solvers clamp for my Chorus 11 and it works and looks fine. I think there is a photo somewhere if you search for similar threads.

Plastic shims work fine for clamp on front derailleurs. An added advantage of plastic shims is that they can help protect the frame paint from the (metal) derailleur clamp.

FYI, I tried using a Parlee clamp, but the thickness of the powder coat on my frame was just a tad too much to get the clamp to sit correctly. I had to revert back to a hinged clamp that I had. I need to use a plastic shim with the hinged clamp. The benefit is that there's no metal to metal contact. However, the larger clamp interferes with the seat tube mounted bottle cage. I had to use some spacers to offset the cage and clear the clamp.

That’s where I am right now. Bike is complete except for the front derailleur. 31.8 band, just hesitant to clamp it around such lovely paint.

You have to get over that.

Brazing on a front der tab would muck the paint much worse...:). It's always going to have a front der on, correct? I'd second(or third) one of the generic Fder clamps..Problem solvers, Miche, etc.

The beauty of not having a braze-on is that one day, when I've lost my marbles, I'll decide to experiment with a 1x setup. All I have to do is remove the FD and clamp and it looks natural.
I'm thinking maybe just a layer of black electrical tape inside a 26.8mm generic clamp should provide ample paint protection. Just gotta be careful not to clamp it too tight on the Spirit tubing.

You may want to use 3M paint film instead of electrical tape. It would be less obvious and would still protect the paint.

And that’s the solution I went with. Bottle cage position left precious little clearance for anything much thicker.
