Hi gang,
Has anyone used a TA Carmina or Carmina Light crank? I love TA products in general and I am sure these are top-shelf quality. But I figured I would see if anyone out there has any feedback.

I am thinking of using these on my geared mtb with a 94 PCD double spider and 29/44 gearing. I am also thinking of them for next year's cross bikes with a 130 PCD spider and 38/46 gearing. The beauty of these cranks seems to be the versatility. You can basically order the arms, any spider and any chainring combo. They also pretty light and they are silver. But I tend to prefer cranks with integrated spiders because there are less creaks.

Thoughts? TIA.

...both on spouse's rides...one an IF 559 wheeled tourer and the other on a Peter Mooney 571 wheeled road bike. Phil BBs on both. 26-38-46 (IIRC) on the tourer and 28-38-48 on the road bike.

Easy install. Look fine in all silver. Would have preferred a Zepher...but none avail in 165.

Talk to Peter White or to Dave Barry...both are fully versed.

Let me know if you want to take a look at them. I'm down the 'pike from you...

I love my Carmina crank. I'm a small woman and I really like the Q-angle on it. My LBS installed it so I can't vouch for installation. Shifting is very smooth.

:) Right now my bike is stored in the basement. We're buried in snow but the skiing today was wonderful!

Thanks for the info. I think I will go ahead and order them.

TA specs a 107 mm bb for the doubles, but Phil only makes 105 and 108. I think I will go with a 105 to lower the Q a bit.

If anyone else has anything to add, I would be all ears, Pantani-style, God rest his soul.

Do you have a source for 29t chainrings? I think Peter White only sells 30 and above... One of these will be on my next bike.

There's photos of this crank on a bike in Mike Beganyi's blog: http://littlecircles.blogspot.com/2006/11/bike-part-1.html

Scroll down a bit--the photo at the top of the page shows a different crank.

I got a 29 tooth from Starbike.com a couple of years ago. But I think Euro-Asia has the 29 tooth in stock now. So a bike shop with an account with them can order one.

Thanks! Always looking for a lower gear... I could go Campy and have a 29 x 29 low on a double crank!
