tire sealant works as advertised also. i think it's super convenient to use too with the pouch it comes in. $10 bucks works for me. the spout fits right over a valve core and goes right into the tire. very good dispensing idea.

Do you notice any issues in cold weather? I have a big bottle of Stans getting ready to go tubeless on my mountain bike, but my buddy says that the Muc off lasts longer. Though he lives in Austin.

Apologies for the drift (and, I fear, repeating myself)…I'm working on reducing the number of cycling things I buy with a high plastic packaging to product ratio. Mostly that's nutrition and hydration, via preparing actual food and putting in ziploc bags that I reuse or just wrapping in paper. I see a number of riders who have a can of sealant attached to their seatpost, not sure if those things are recyclable or not…the calculus on this stuff gets complex.

If some vendor(s) were to come up with more environmentally friendly packaging for these things they'd win my business. </drift>

I suppose an alternative is to buy a big container of sealant and fill a tubeless syringe with it(then plug it somehow) and bring THAT along for the ride.

I buy Orange Seal in quart bottles. I have never brought sealant outside of a tire on a ride.

A few weeks ago, another rider needed to top up after a puncture. Her sealant had gone dry-ish.

Nice Doxa there. Care to give us the view that's 180 degrees from the clasp? :-)

It happens. I just bring a tube. One could bring a tube AND some more sealant, but I really try to stay away from the kitchen sink approach lately.

My local REI was out, but they ordered two bottles for me. The guy helping me said there were 1,200 available.

So if your local REI is out, they can order it for you.

Thanks for the tip. I have always used NFS - any idea how it compares to NFS?

Never used NFS so no comparison. I was given a couple of (VERY) small sample bottles of the Muc-Off and I was impressed. At $6 a bottle it’s worth giving it a longer trial.

My question too, so hoping someone has experience with both.

I have seen extended lifespan of my chains using NFS (current Record 11 chain is approaching 5K miles and hasn't reached 0.5mm 'stretch') so am disinclined to experiment with another brand. But never tried the Muc-off.

had a cafelatex bag of sealant much like this. punctured in my bar bag mid ride from either a multi tool or key. for the life of me i couldnt figure out why i was covered in sealant as my tires were both holding air just fine. until i finished the ride and reached into my bar bag :P

a quick 20 mile ride and my drivetrain seemed a little more quiet and seemed to shift a little more smoothly. scientific? nope. worth the $6? Yup.

OrangeSeal has a cold weather formula out. No experience with it to date, but soon.

Sorry, forgot to reply. I have tried a ton of lubes (sitting on my shelf is rock n gold, boeshield t-9, finish line, pedros, nfs, and squirt). My favorite, hands down is NFS - until now. Purchased the Muc-off from REI (6 bucks) and I am kicking myself that I didn't buy 10 bottles. Best by a long shot. Drive train is silent and remains clean. This stuff is really good.

While my SR RD was being serviced up in Boulder (thank you as always oldpotatoe, springs back and shifts like new!), I gave my chain a good soak and clean. Then, on went the Hydrolube. I agree with wc ^, this is the smoothest stuff I've ever sent through the drivetrain. However, I only have 3 short rides on it so far, so I can only say so much about it. I too came from NFS which has been my favorite thus far, and I like their suggested method of "12"...more like twentysomething...drops, one ever few links. Muc Off is really good stuff for sure, and appears to be staying quite clean despite the old school way of applying it to each and every bushing/rivet ;).

I used to use Chain-L No. 5, and while it lasts a long time, it's too viscous and makes a hell of mess. I recently decommissioned a friends bike to sell parts for him, and the old Chain-L on the chain had hardened to the point that the drivetrain didn't work right. I'm not even going to bother with cleaning the chain. Although maybe I should soak it just to see if it's even cleanable.

Are you using the hydrodynamic lube?

Yup - In my opinion it is really an excellent product, and I have tried most of the top selling brands. You do have to apply it to each roller, but it's easy as the nozzle is long and thin and the lube is blue, so you can actually see where you've applied it.

Great. Thanks.
I tried their dry lube, and that was terrible. Right now, I'm using Smoove.

Yeah that and the previous price, I wonder if its been discontinued for some reason. Muc off also shows it as out of stock.
