Marnati
Road frame & fork
55cm road frame (square geometry)
Umberto Marnati is probably the most famous frame builder you've never heard of. He was Fausto Coppi's mechanic in the 1950's. You can easily google a wonderful picture from the epic 1952 TDF battle between Coppi and Bartali, of Marnati cheering on Coppi from the convertile team car! Later he was a frame builder at Legnano and Bianchi. In the 1970's he built frames for the Salvarani Team (bikes were labeled Chiorda) and he also built frames for Francesco Moser.
In the 1970's he opened his own frame shop in Milan with his son Daniele. Umberto died many years ago and Daniele only recently retired from frame building.
Asking $350, OBO plus $65 Bike Flights shipping to the CONUS
ETT: 55cm
Seat tube: 55cm
Head tube: 13.25cm
Chain stay: 412mm
top tube slope: 0 degrees (level top tube)
This is an stunning example of a vintage frame and perfect
for Eroica rides. The paint is in very good, albeit not perfect
condition. There are paint chips but no structural damage.
The decals show wear, but for a 35 to 40 year old bike, they are
in remarkably good condition.
I sold all the components. This sale is for the FRAME & FORK ONLY
