You use less O2 in the evening? You're more efficient? I can't stand waiting until evening to do a workout. By then, my motivation is long gone.

For the vast majority of people, there are other factors with a bigger effect on performance/weight loss than time of day one exercises.

Personally, I prefer a post-morning time for my workouts because I'm almost always doing a high-intensity workout that I'm not mentally prepared for only a couple hours after getting up.

My work schedule dictates when I ride. I don't have enough motivation to get up at 2am for a 2 hour ride, then get ready to be at work by 6.

I'm in Baltimore right now, up in Hunt Valley, and, with this heat, starting rides at 6:30 am.

Evening workouts during the week. I tried mornings but I like to do boot camp classes and have to leave 10 minutes before the end to get cleaned up and to work. Weekends, I'm riding at dawn because.... Arizona.

Well, I guess "morning" is a relative term. I work 1-930pm, so my morning starts at 9am. Rides are after morning rush hour. If I had to try to ride before a 6am job start, I'd fail that, too.

Best is early morning on the trail. If you wait until after breakfast, you get the commuters, then the geriatrics and the long leash dog walkers, and don't get me started on the roller bladers. If you wait until evening you get the angry white collar types that need to blow off steam after a long day, and are trying to lose 10 pounds so their spouse starts to notice them again.

I can't always make it out in the morning though, so I make do with some of these inconveniences.

During the week it's afternoon only for me, leave for work around 6:30am. Weekends are mornings though.

Is there a choice? I start in the morning, continue through the day and the evening...

I've been converted to a 5am rider from a 5pm rider. Started as a way to get more miles in and be able to eat dinner with family. Now I really enjoy it. City and roads quiet plus miss heat of day and humidity.

So if I had trained in the evening rather than in the morning I could have been a pro instead of a crappy cat three racer?
Dang.

If paceline had a QOTW thread, this would get my vote. LOLz.

Work 2-10 so no choice for me. But it's a shift I chose so... I like starting around 9A.M. Though I often appreciate leaving earlier and finishing earlier! Hard to do when the cold sets in though.

Why not both?

Wait. People still rollerblade?
