amazing luck for that guy.

now i want to know: what kind of GPS has an SOS button?

Very good on Mr. Quinones. May karma bless him 10x.

Devices such as this: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/592606 are popular among bikepackers as a safety tool when venturing deep into the wilderness.

This story says it was a SPOT tracker https://www.oregonlive.com/news/2019/07/southern-oregon-man-72-walked-14-miles-over-4-days-before-mountain-biker-from-portland-found-him.html?fbclid=IwAR2nwMkQEwiOCnOABDBuRqstwygAIJfR ePNHnlz60WHgcvnUxXsc1oTEwMo

I'm always afraid I'm going to activate my sos button by mistake somehow. It is under a cover. There are rumors people have pushed the sos button and gotten no response, but in this case the ambulance was there within an hour. The ones that can send text messages look really nice, and I have thought about switching. SPOTs can send preprogrammed messages, which reminds me I need to change one of them into the call of shame.
