Personally I don’t think going ceramic is worth the cost, dependability/longevity for the minuscule performance gain over high quality conventional steel bearings.
I have seen too many ceramic bearings failed prematurely.
In short I advise sticking to the conventional ones.

Which ones do your buddy’s recommend?
The cool factor of having What people think is best far outweighs any performance gains.

Most are hybrids, and the steel they use for the 'cup and cone' aren't hardened so fail pretty quickly. Pure ceramic cost a bundle and even with those, the gains are marginal, small, slight.
Remember ceramic bearings are good for
-high pressure
-high speed
-corrosive environments
-for non conducting apps

Bikes are none of these things..I'd say spend yer $ elsewhere.
