Some of you might have this already, but I've been geeking out on this since yesterday morning. It's all the audio of the Apollo 11 mission in real time (https://apolloinrealtime.org/11/), exactly 50 years later.

Regardless of when you tune in (except for sleep time) there's always some fascinating back-and-forth between the crew and Mission Control.

Tune in Saturday, especially!

I watched For All Mankind last night on TCM. Exciting and inspiring.

Thank you for sharing that link! Wonderful.

Reminds me of some of the work that the group Public Service Broadcasting did several years back. They sample and cut archival audio from different historical events into their music to great effect. They have an entire album entitled "The Race for Space," which seems especially appropriate these days. Lots of great work around WWII as well (check out "Spitfire" and "If War Should Come.") They have a variety of songs and videos on youtube, but this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZyLwfrDyjc) brings their work together with some great footage in a very effective way.

Here's their song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzmOwvnDf4Q) from Apollo 11--uses the audio from the lunar module's descent to the moon.

(As a fun bonus video that deserves to be seen, check out the original video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wY-kAnvOY80) they put together for their song "Gagarin.")

Cool post. I didn't think that anyone else here would dig Public Service Broadcasting. (A lot more Van Morrison people here).

Thanks for the link ! I listened to it this afternoon for several hours. It makes you appreciate how complicated the whole endeavor was to pull off.
In just under 2 hours it will be 50 years since Armstrong and Aldrin walked on the moon.
I remember clearly watching it on TV and then running outside and taking a photo of the moon with my Kodak instamatic - the moon came out very small. Still have it somewhere.
