Specialized must have stronger joints as their bike snapped mid tube

Pina must have stronger tubes as their bike snapped at the joints.

Can we conclude this ?

I guess they can turn that into a travel frame with some S&S couplers.

Take the rear wheel off and you've got a carbon stool.

That thing was a carbon stool. That’s why it broke like that. :bike:

no, because they weren't subjected to the same stress, so you can't compare the result.

This would not have happened with disc brakes...the bike would have held together.

I think Krazy glue would be more appropriate.

from the pic i thought someone hit that pole, but they just propped it up there to get it out of the road. from the slomo it looks as if it was cantilevered on something (someone) and another rider landed on the side of it.

Yes. You finish the stage on a unicycle.

that's an amazing shot.
makes me wonder if Thomas overlapped with the rider in front of him (is that Moscon? Not sure), or if he just saw the crash right in front of him, went whole hog on the brakes, and ejected himself.

^^^Amazing photo!^^^

The spectator with her hands over her face as the wreck unfolds is quite the reaction. NBC just aired an interview with Michael Woods recorded just before the start of today’s stage. Woods took full responsibility for the crash, stating that he simply didn’t get the corner right. He said his bike handling skills are improving, but in this case he didn’t weight the outside pedal sufficiently. Surprising (and refreshing) to hear a pro be so candid about a mistake.

Sadly, no. Look at the spokes on the back wheel. Not OK.

Both the actual crash (yesterday) and the interview with Woods (today) are available on the NBC Sports website and app. I believe that you will likely need the annual cycling pass in order to see the interview. I saw it on the "ad-free" feed this morning.

The F1X bikes are notoriously fragile. Friend that worked for a Pinneralo customer team would never leave home with out plenty of Fiber Fix! Sure hope they have one hell of a crash replacement program!!!
