Never heard of him before.
Good lordy this guy is painful to watch.
He can't shut up after he asks each question.

Better than listening to Sagan.

He's been part of their broadcast team for a while now. Usually on the back of a motorcycle during the race.

he is primarily their alpine ski commentator - moonlights every july

And apparently a very good skier in his day. I thought he was a goof when I saw him on the moto at the TDF, but my opinion changed after seeing him at the last winter Olympics.

I had the same reaction...
He is legit...Just as Doris Burke is.
Mike Tirico....I don't know about that.

Well, check out his new ad for Specialized. There is even a throw back to Bill O'Reilly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_HyZ5aW76c) in there, see if you can catch it.

I rather like the guy and know him from watching him ski and on NBC. I think he's been doing the tour 4-5 years now. That said I don't pay real close attention beyond the info.
I think it's a nice perspective to have a non ex-pro bike racer bringing some behind the scenes logistic info to the scene. No anecdotal info, just what's going on.
YMMV
PS Many of you really have a love/hate thing for the commentators. They all seem fine to me :-) Even Phil

But was he a doper?
Probably not, as that’s a requirement for those that work in the booth...he’s been assigned to work the moto.

I think his moto work is good and one of the better aspects of the NBC coverage. They must have been throwing him a bone with that Sagan interview and it was a little painful.

Geez, wasn’t that bad...Sagan is pretty good with English but still makes it kinda choppy but not bad. Ya need to raise your pain threshold :)
