I am building a Motorola team bike and (over) thinking on wheel choices. I have a 7410 group for the bike and these are my wheel options/choices based on what's in the garage. I have a loose 7403 rear hub, and a 74xx built onto a Grey ano Matrix "aero" rim. I want to stay with grey rims, otherwise I'd have used the black rims I had on hand... silly me.

Thoughts on options:

1. Build the rear DA hub onto Grey anodized open pro rim.

-Already have spokes, need to buy rim(s)

2. Build both hubs onto something like the Archetype or TB14 rims.

-Need to buy spokes and rims

3. Convert a set of Record silver hubs currently built with archetype rims to a shimano freehub, and convert the bike currently outfitted with these wheels to carbon tubulars.

-Will the hubs and group even get along? ;)

4. Other options/opinions?

for the grey old school aesthetic with modern performance, the hard ano TB-14;s are hard to beat. great rims. the archetypes with the H PLUS SON logos will look out of place IMO.

i say build the hubs you have to new TB-14 hard ano's.

+1 It's a hot combo. Here's a polished hub to hard ano TB-14 wheelset I built.

I don't remember what they actually rode on the team. Wolber?

...but I have a set of 3 32h Campag Omega XL rims I could sell. My retro project isn't likely to happen any time soon. 2 of them were NOS till I laced them into wheels and rode em briefly

They're like TB14s only cooler

Definitely go with matching rims, no matter what.
Agree that the nicest modern rim with an old school dark ano look is the TB-14, although must say the ones I built for my '84 Paramount are more black than that gray-green MA-40 color.
Original would have been Wolber tubulars- good luck finding some of those today. However, Wayne Bingham at Velo Classique still had a stack of Wolber (Alpine? Gentleman? Super gentleman?) dark ano clincher rims in stock last year, might be worth checking with him.

I have a bunch of NOS Matrix rims, can check for a mate to your front wheel if you are interested.

I have a set of omega strada xl hardox tubulars with nice campy silver hubs in my shed that look to be in vgc. I'd move them along relatively cheap if you are interested.
