Just want to let forum members know that my wife and I are in Franconia NH for a month until 7/13, so let me know if you're in the area and would like to ride. Lots of great dirt roads around here and some killer climbs - great training for that gravel event you've got planned.
I'll do a Kanc loop at least once and will be exploring the dirt.

Send me a PM if you'd like to ride.

Hmmmm - given your location I'd say beware of Doc Benton...

I'm actually going to be there this weekend, but just hiking with my daughter.

Franconia is great for riding and hiking. If you like burgers head down to Lincoln and try Black Mtn. Burger. It's really good.

We just got back from a camping / MTBing trip near Gorham, NH. It is another great place to check out.

Have fun!

As it happens I rode right through Franconia yesterday on a 5-notch ride- Bear, Kanc, Jefferson, and a couple of un-named.

Speaking of which- Does the notch/pass on 118 between Woodstock and Warren have a name? On the old Northeast Hillclimbing website they called this Gonzo Pass. Or they may have meant the pass on North South Rd, aka Long Pond Road, which is dirt, and is a bit off to the west? In any case, those were the two others.

But yes, excellent riding. Will look you up if I get out there in near future, which is pretty likely.

When I lived in Canterbury, NH, the old timers used to declare the start of winter as the first snow in Franconia. When you heard "It snowed last night over to the Notch," that meant winter has begun. And it might be August.

We won't be there in June/July, but a great, if short-ish ride is to go from Franconia south on 116 to 112, then over Lost River to N. Woodstock. Then back up through the notch, picking up the bike path through the Notch. Then back to Franconia either on 18 or 141. Always pretty.
