So Wout van Aert now his first two road stage victories:

1) Dusts the likes of Tom Dumoulin to win a 26k TT (yesterday)
2) Dusts the likes of Alaphillipe and Sam Bennett to win a straight up group sprint.

I guess some of this isn't too surprising - for TT purposes, he is pretty used to riding at or near the redline for an extended period. And today's sprint was kinda false-flat with a lot of tricky corners, which you can imagine playing in to his CX handling skills.

Still, what an impressive 2 days (3, really, as he almost won the sprint the day before the TT) of bike riding by WvA.

The most noticeable thing at the finish is his bike handling. He doesn't sway a lot side to side when sprinting, and his navigation at the last corner and around the other bunch sprinters is impeccable.

Very excited for he and Van Der Poel in the near future, duking it out once again but on tarmac instead of dirt/grass/sand/mud.

I am loving watching Wout and MVP do so well. Watching them race cross is just inspired and to see them both be successful in other forms of cycling is great. Plus I don’t think MVP can be stopped on dirt for much longer, his mob skills are impressive.

Alaphillipe was passed by MVDP a couple of times in the spring classics as well so he knows how fast they are.

BTW Alaphilippe started cycling in the CX category before he went to road cycling.

CX riders usually do ok in road, but not necessarily a road rider will do ok in CX.
