I know nothing about these things other than I borrowed King Kohlboto’s Roadrunner Burrito bag this weekend when visiting him and his famiglia.

I actually thought it was great - small, simple, stylish. Only thing is that I live in a very wet climate and ride year round. It there an equivalent to this bag but that it totally waterproof (like an Ortlieb)? I like how small the burrito one was as I am not using this for camping or anything like that.

Thanks for any suggestions...

I've used this on tour a couple times and some long days. I put camera gear in it with no fear.

Same idea a bit smaller. If it were poring rain on a commute or something I might put everything in a zip lock or stuff sack to assure H20 proofness

Thanks! I am thinking smaller than that. As in, wallet, keys, phone, tube, multi tool. Maybe a tiny snack.

Maybe that burrito roll was tiny compared to other options? I liked that.

I use this as an every day bag on the road bike. It's not waterproof because of the zipper placement and if it does rain hard it wont drain so I poked a hole in the bottom of it :-)

Here is a pic. The bag is a few years old

I picked up this one for a long ride last year, got absolutely downpoured on 3 different times and my phone remained dry as a bone. My only gripe is that the zipper and fastener is a little tricky to use while riding, but other than that it worked to my liking. The materials seem pretty good for the price, and I think it looks cool.

Off topic, can anyone describe an easy way to create a hyperlink?? I just hate messy links!

Road Runner will make you a burrito bag out of Xpac material. It's not waterproof but it takes a significant amount to water to get through it.

I would suggest that you get whatever bag you like and do not worry about wether or not it is waterproof. Go to MEC and get a dry bag that is slightly larger than the handle bar bag. Line the handle bar bag with the dry bag and put your stuff in the dry bag when things get wet. This is the best way to waterproof in way that will never fail.

It's probably too big but I love my Outershell bag (https://www.outershelladventure.com/shop/handlebar-bag)

Bought it for a trip where I put bars, camera and jackets or whatnot for the day in it. Came back and I find I just use it all the time, moving from bike to bike.

Love it.

i was caught in a rainstorm a while back and my phone and snacks and whatever else i had in my roadrunner burrito stayed dry the entire time. i think the plastic liner thing thats inside that keeps its shape helped. that ride killed my insulin pump. i should have disconnected it and thrown it in my bag but i was afraid the exposed infusion set would ruin my lycra. priorities, right? riding in the rain is wack.

Ha ha - yes, priorities. Glad you kept your Lycra proper.

I am thinking the Burrito is fine. I actually dont feel compelled to ‘go down the rabbit hole’ researching this (what?! A first!?!) so this one is good enough.
