All handlebars have the reach spec, but thanks to how the bend is shaped and the location of shifter mounting area, the effective reach that takes into account the mounted shifters can be quite different. Sometimes you may end up with a longer effective reach on a shorter bars.

So among bars with 65-80mm bars-only reach, which ones have very short effective reach?

Zipp SL70 has really short effective reach) I have experience with these.
Specialized also make an aluminum bar that advertises 65mm reach. Have not mounted or tried.

Pretty sure the Noodle has a rather long reach.Maybe so, but the tops (toward the ramps) sweep decidedly back toward the rider, so at least one aspect of effective reach is shorter as it affects me.

You're right it does but I think it still sits in the 90mm range which is by no means short compared to some of the others in the 70-75 range.

I found this chart that is quite helpful. I lists both road and mountain bars. I am not sure how dated it is tho.

Use a length of pipe or dowel rod, spanning across both brake hoods, in the area where the crook of your thumb rests and measure the distance back to the straight portion of the bar.
That will allow a comparison of different bars. Once I find a bar I really like, I use it for all of my builds. I've used the Easton EC-90 and EC-70 short reach and shallow drop bars for many years.

I have used Ritchey curve and EC 90 bars as I needed to shorten the reach in my aging cycle fit...…….

Whisky has some bars under 70mm reach. I have the 12 degree flare on my Litespeed "MX" and 6 degree on the Firefly

Ritchey curve.

This ones (https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/bike/handlebars/wcs-curve-handlebar)? Others have told me the effective reach on these feels longer than some 75mm-reach ones (with the same shifters).

Looking at those (6-deg ones), how are they? Do they flex much when standing/climbing?
