He was picked by the Packers the 17th round of the 1956 NFL Draft. It turned out to be a pretty good choice. RIP.

probably my most liked quarterback. didn't have the natural talent of some others but his work ethic was the best ever. made the most of his skills. I'll never forget the first Super Bowl game. rip!

The quintessential team player.

“The dirty little secret of those days,” said Steve Wright, an offensive tackle for the Packers, as quoted in “America’s Quarterback: Bart Starr and the Rise of the National Football League” (2011), by Keith Dunnavant, “was that during the week it was Lombardi’s team, but on Sunday it was really Starr’s team.”

Lot of good quarterbacks came from Alabama. Starr was one of them.

The quintessential team player.

just finished the book. wow absolutely loved it. thanks for the recommendation. the book just solidified my feeling towards Bart Starr as being the best quarterback of our generation. when I say best I mean work ethic, roll model etc. we do not have that in today's world unfortunately.

The lowest drafted player to ever be inducted into the HOF.

Just curious, are there any non drafted players in the HOF?
