Obviously not a Cannondale. The fork resembles a Headshok, but the oval shaped boot makes me think it's not one. Anyone recognize this frame and fork?

Fork looks like it could be an action tec.

Hmm- Univega was my first guess, but I don’t know.

Looks like (but is not) a Rocky Mountain Cirrus frame. Vaguely Manitou-ish back end. That is an Actiontec fork.

cannondale at one point made an elevated chainstay frame.

I think that is a Manitou.

Cannondale did make one but I'm gonna guess this one is a Nothing Special.

Could be a Terry Grimes with an Action Tec fork.

the seat collar looks different but the reverse facing dropouts are on both.

That is an Action Tec fork, frame looks Douglas Bradbury style but I do not remember an elevated chainstay one.

I'd say no to it being a manitou based on pics and details.
No gussets, the braces and it just does not look like a manitou.

Hmm that does look similar doesn't it? Braze-ons seem rather crude and poorly placed and can't tell if the bike has a braze for front derailleur.

Details like the struts between the seat and chainstays as well as how the chainstay assembly is shaped where it meets the seat tube are pretty identical.

The fork doesn't have the cable stop. Maybe the owner ground it off? Or were they bolt-on items; I don't remember.

With the exception of the seat binder, it looks just like the 2nd frame posted in the link. Doubt that any other builder did the chain stays that way.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

Nice one. I was thinking that the frame might be an ABM, but after seeing your link, I've changed my mind to agree.

I once saw a Nishiki at an MTB race that looked similar. That was in the mid-90's so memory may be a little fuzzy on that one lol.

I think this is a really great guess.

No, it came up on the vintage Cannondale site. I told the poster that I thought it was worth the asking price, and he bought it.

My guess is an Ellison. Don’t see those too often. Might have actually been built by Ventana.
