View Full Version : Forum's Third Anniversary Top Ten List

The forum is three years old, and its anniversary has brought back my tradition of revisiting the top ten threads and trying to figure out what this forum is all about. During the last three years there have been 17,039 threads, but only ten of them have exceeded 7,500 views (approximately 1/20 of 1%). What is in a thread that results in 7,500 views? The only conclusion I can draw is that some of us, including myself, have both way too much time on our hands and need medical help. Regardless, it is also a group that I am proud to be part of. Happy anniversary and happy holidays.

Kevin

PS These threads are worth a second look,

1. Kerry on his Serotta. Discusses politics, the shaving of legs and the wearing of bicycle shorts during an election year. It also showed that we could generally discuss politics without becoming trolls. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=1792

2. Adieu CSI. Discusses the discontinuation of the beloved CSI. It also showed that despite the high esteem for the CSI, few forum members would actually buy a new one when given a second chance. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=10239

3. A Thing of beauty. This thread contains many discussions regarding frame building and materials. It contains elements of "classic handbuilt" vs. "carbon and ti", "Artistry vs. Technology" and "Old technology vs. new technology". It showed that forum members have many different views on frames. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=6876

4. Mug Shot Thread. This thread showed that none of us are going to be getting modeling contracts any time soon. Of course it also showed that we have very attractive spouses, children and bikes. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=12550

5. Best (forum) legs. This thread was a new entry into the top ten. While it showed that our legs ranged from "chicken legs" to "Schwartzinager legs", I think Jason E had the best legs and 92 degrees should buy some clothes.
http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=20055&page=1&pp=15

6. Phonak Confirms Landis Positive. This thread was another new entry to the top ten. This thread showed that while we all agreed that cheaters are a problem, we disagreed on what proved a person was a cheater.
http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=19726

7. MeiVici Pictures. This thread showed that we all lusted after a new bike, what a suprise. It also showed that some of us were looking for ways to justify the expense to our spouses. Can a bike frame really be considered art? Well, I think so. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=10652

8. Interbike Best in Show. Another new entry into the top ten. This thread showed that we all like bling and bike eye candy.
http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=21756

9. Naked Pictures of Sandy. The title of the thread explains it all. It also showed that Sandy is a very good sport. However, I question all of you on why it moved up from 10 to 9 even though we have three new entries in front of it. So it actually moved in front of four of the top ten posts from last year. You guys are sick.
http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=1956

10. Bike Aesthetics - Best and Worst. This thread showed that we all have different ideas of what looks good and what looks bad. It also showed that we all wanted a bike that fit well. We just sometimes disagreed on how to engineer a properly fitting bike. http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=6130

Mr. 6000,

We regret to inform you that we have initiated drug testing regarding your first place thread. Compared to the "luke warm" responses to your other threads, the response to your number one thread is "questionable". We suspect that you may have been viewing your own thread over and over and over again. We suspect that you will go with the dead twin in the womb defense. In addition, we would like to point out that Douglas was able to place two threads in the top ten and mainatin a certain level of decorum over his accomplishment. We will keep you apprised of our investigation. ;)

I also loved the thread about the guy who used to race model cars and one of the racers burned up or something.
