I just picked-up a new DT 350 front hub that came stock with 15mm end caps and the kit with 12mm end caps. The 15’s are held in by snap rings. What’s the trick to popping those out?

Thanks in advance

Best is a axle vise of a well padded vice..they just pop out. Those 'covers' aren't really snap rings.

With my DT’s, I just wrap the end cap with a rag, grab with pliers and pull.

Axle vise, 15 seconds later, done and dusted.

Thanks

I use a 12mm or 15mm blind bearing puller and yank. Be careful not to scratch em up with other methods

Grit gets in there and stoves them up. Basic maintenance should include popping them off, lube and reinstall every so often. Service the star ratchet while you're at it

I got all the advice above when I bought some 350s and found it not hugely helpful. Everything from a vice on the endcap to yanking on channel locks gripping the endcap. None of it worked if I was pulling straight back along the axis of the axle.

The key is to lever sideways. I put a 13 or 14mm allen key wrapped in a rag on the inside of the 15mm endcap, and used it as a lever. Popped right off. I hope that helps.

+1...DT actually makes a specific tool to remove the end caps on 15mm 350 hubs that effectively functions exactly like this.

Isn't there an o-ring in there? I think that's why levering it sideways is easier than pulling straight.
