That was a difficult climb in a 34x28. Even in my best day I could not have climbed it in a 42x24. Amazing stuff.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

That is the year (and stage, #20) that Baronchelli beat Merckx (Fuentes, Baronchelli, Conti, Merckx, Lopez, Gimondi, Battaglin for the stage) on this climb, but Merckx still won the Giro GC (his 5th) by 12 seconds over Baronchelli, which is I think even now the closest margin ever.
