$12,000 new Roubaix announced today-

BOTTOM BRACKET 68mm threaded, CeramicSpeed bearings

So I guess Xoz savings wasn't that important afterall, returns/calls to factory are.

That's a great decision from them though. Long live the bsa bottom bracket!

Never had a problem with PF bottom brackets on the four Specialized I've owned that had them.

HOWEVER.....

Huzzah for makers going the threaded BB route. Carbon construction is advanced enough that the extra 50-75g isn't going to make or break a frame's reputation, but a constant creaking noise will absolutely make every rider's life a living hell. Also there's enough other ways to lose that weight that it makes almost no sense to risk a bad interface at the location that sees the most movement, outside the wheels.

Agree all the way. I have not had a pressed in bb on a bike, but have heard enough complaints to avoid them.

Note that it’s an Italian threaded BB

Not the Spec-Ed Roubaix model but this, being used at P-R..Pinarello...
Pinarello Dogma FS key specs
The Dogma FS features much of the same technology seen on the regular Dogma, including Pinarello’s signature aero ForkFlap, the aero-profiled recessed down tube and, for some unknown reason, an Italian-threaded bottom bracket.

Already excited for 2025 when Spesh brings back high-end steel and rim-brakes...

Interesting that Pinarello brings out a new, dual-suspension road bike that features rim brakes and an Italian threaded BB. Appears to be a "service course-only" model like the rare Trek Domane Koppenbergs.

Italian threading goes with an added 2mm of bracket width, which is considered to be an important design parameter that increases design freedom of the frame's bb structure.

Remember that external threaded cups already is adding a cantilevered bearing mount effect, something that's going to add weight and reduce rigidity by itself.

The larger threaded diameter of Italian threading might also be taken advantage of in terms of improving strength/stiffness to weight.

Many of today's cranksets are all already designed to accommodate a 70mm bracket width with external cups, so why not exploit this with a spacer-free installation that widens the bearing spacing?

Plus it's the 'far superior Italian threading'..what's not to like??

Manufacture and Tap with one tool too..one side all the way thru the other..less chance of L-R threads not being parallel..'far superior'...:)

The outgoing Roubaix is also threaded
