The We Ride Flanders attracted 16,000 riders. What struck me was that 4,550 registered for the whole 229km (142.2 miles). Impressive.

Velonews had a good article about the event.....would love to do it one of these years.

He also made a pretty logical argument why doing the shorter distances makes more sense, primarily because virtually all of the climbing and well-known sectors are in the shorter distances, as well as the earlier miles being pretty flat/boring and the full route requires the challenge of starting in Antwerp and finishing in Oudenaarde, so logistics getting between the two isn't optimal with gear pre/post race.
