I am headed to San Diego for a week later this month with my family. I'm flying out a bike for myself but want to rent something for my wife. I've looked around a bit online and can only find road bikes and full suspension MTBs. A hardtail is preferable since we will be doing a mix of paved riding with some easy dirt...

Any leads on a business to rent from or an individual with a Medium (~17") hardtail are appreciated!

Thanks,
Aaron

Aaron- not sure what part of SD you'll be in but I'm in Encinitas and if I'm around I have a Mosaic HT I'd be open to letting you guys use. It's closer to an 18"+ and set up rigid. If that doesn't work my buddy owns a shop in Carlsbad and I can ask him if he knows of anything. My buddies shop https://www.velohangar.com

Thanks for the offer Michael. I would imagine that your Moasic is a bit too tall for my wife.

We are staying around Mission Bay. My California geography isn't the best so I'm not sure if that is close to you or not.

Mission Bay to Encinitas is about 30 minutes if it's not during rush hour. California Bicycles and U.C. Cyclery are 10-15 minutes from Mission Bay. I don't know what they may be renting but they are good shops.

Maybe you should rent different bikes for different days?

Yeah, as Ken stated, depending on traffic I'm 20-30 min north of Mission Bay. I can shoot you the geo sheet so you can check it out if you'd like, just PM me your email.

I haven't seen many shops in the area that offer MTB rentals let alone a hardtail. You might check Moment Cycles, they have a location at Liberty Station which is close to where you'll be.

i was just looking for a roadie for myself, but noticed that the bike revolution rents both full squish mtb's and also a "performance hybrid", which might be a better option for your wife anyway...

Angry-

Not sure where you'll be when you're out here but Ride Cyclery has some pretty high end rentals.

Also, depending on your sizing, I may have something you could take out for a ride.

WOW! A nice car rents for half as much as a decent bicycle.
