Almost hit or got hit by a big buck the other day.

Could have been ugly but not as bad as this: http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/

....down here, too. We're planning a 3 day trip to the Hill Country in early January but it's not the deer I'm concerned about, it's the screwballs with the rifles! We're NOT going to ride before 10AM or after 3PM and we're going to wear the brightest jerseys we've can find! It's not unusual to see a 100 or more deer on an early morning ride in this area. I don't normally ride down there during the hunting season, but I've got some guys up here that need to go then or not at all and, well, I just can't pass up a trip to Fredericksburg WHENEVER it comes up! Planning on looking up Joe Young and getting some wheels for the new/old McLean I latched on to this week. Joe has a McLean, too, and was very excited to get the chance to help build up another one, not many of those floating around Texas!

I grew up hunting, but now spend more time in the autumn and winter on my mtn bike. Had a couple of rides in NY where I would come flying down a trail only to look up in a tree and see a bowhunter. Being an avid bowhunter when I was a teen, I had to wonder why would you ever setup a stand over a mtn bike trail? It always baffled me a little. It wasn't like I was on epic rides miles into the woods.

Except for those short pants ! :D

Can I squeeze one more wear out of this wardrobe for this weekend?

It's getting a tad cool around the ankles at 35 degrees.

ho ho ho :fight:

I chased my wife down to texas, from Santa Fe (after graduating college) and lived in San Marcos, and then Fredericksburg. Ya ever heard of Fredericksburg Brewing Co., i helped build it and the hotel - worked their before moving to Maine. I loved chasing after my wife(navy family) Every time I here of the hill country, it makes me laugh. I used to hang out at Luchenbach..............................go Jerry Jeff.
