Vittoria Corsa G+ Clincher Mounting Difficulties

I picked up a pair of the original Corsa G+ clinchers with black sidewall on sale. Tried to mount them on a set of Aeolus 5 TLR D3 wheels and had no luck. The remaining portion of the bead was so tight I'm not sure it would even be possible to pull it on with tire levers.

Has anyone had issues before with the black sidewall version of the Corsa G?


FWIW, I just picked up the wheels so haven't had experience with mounting any previous tires on it. I do own a set of the Aeolus 3 wheels and have previously used the Corsa G's on them, however it was the gumwall version so I'm not sure if the black sidewalls are less flexible?

Or is the v2.0 more of a tight fit?

It's a tighter fit. I use tubeless tape on my rims and work around the entire tire, pulling out any slack, and haven't had to resort to tire irons. That said, I do carry them in my seat bag...cold days and numb hands...
