My friend in Boston gave me an uber -cool skin suit to "race" cross in. It is skinny with long arms like me, and the legs fit well, but when I stand up straight it is a little tight in the shoulders and pulls me down a bit. Is this normal since you arn't really supposed to stand like that when riding? Are they cut to fit only when in the drops? I'm just worried it doesn't fit me cause I have such a long torso. I have never worn a skin suit before, except my birthday suit, of which I am very fond.

Thankx,

Love xxoo shino

The best skin suit guy ever.
With apologies to BBDave, who is a very close second.
(but they might fine you 50 Swiss francs)

It's too small. It should fit tight but not to pull you down.

cut a 2" section out between your 3rd and 4th rib... should make it work.
it is a really cool skinsuit, right?
they are kind of made to be tightish and fit on the bike but ergott is probably right. its for a less giant sized person.

For cross, it's too small. They are designed to not wrinkle up when in the TT position, thus they fit a bit wierd when upright. Obviously upright is poor aerodynamic positioning ;)

a bit of an expert about such things, ask him.

If it's leather, that's his forte.

Maybe I'm dense but why would one want a skin suit for cross ? of course my cross riding is pretty slow.

Answer in reverse order of importance.

throwing the bike on the shoulder often results in the pedal getting caught in the pockets causing the jersey to ride up. A skin suit feels better and it seems to move with you. oh, and it's the euro posuer thing to do.

Why do I get the feeling this is a used skinsuit... and such a thing should never transfer ownership...

Or, heck, go with it. Buy bostondrunk's used PI socks and you'll have a kit.

Ya gotta feel for him though. He must get cold at the cross races. I don't have that problem.
