I remembered seeing this before, it was a kickstarter in 2016. I also remembered it being not quite so clunky.

That is pretty interesting. It's rough - those buttons are a poor form compared to something on the lever tips that you can reach from the drops and the hoods; and, it relies on having a good option for brake levers only, which certainly do exist (but it's a little weird seeing it in pictures with shift levers still on a bike). And it's a little bit goofy that it's rear-only. But it's a neat proof of concept. Though I'd be a little bit concerned that the mechanism could slide on the chainstay and mess up the cable tension.

For a first iteration, I think it is pretty cool!
Great way to dip a toe into the modern world technology without huge $$$.
