Hi All!

I am searching for Morgan Blue Chain Cleaner in the states. It seems to have disappeared from most stateside sources. I used to get it from Excel in Boulder but they don't seem to be carrying the chain cleaner any more.

I've used Simple Green, Citrus degreasers, and other bike degreasers but nothing works as well or as quick as the Morgan Blue stuff.

Thanks in advance!!

When U.S. distribution ceased, I ordered it from Chain Reaction Cycles.

From what the guy that owned the last shop I worked for said: Morgan Blue is a PITA to deal with. I'm hoarding my last little bit.

I've heard of rumors of it being on Amazon, but haven't checked

I don't know about dealing with the company but I do know it is the best damn stuff for cleaning bikes!!

I have looked on the bay...it is quite a bit more expensive than Chain Reaction...but they are out right now. :(

You can find it in eBay but it is expensive.

What is this magic blue potion? How have I not heard of this before?

It's a chain cleaner that works pretty well. Morgan Blue makes a variety of bike cleaning products, lubes, etc. It seems to be pretty popular among the European pro teams. Whether that's purely the product or money, I don't know.

I find cleaning with Morgan Blue and lubing with NFS results in chains working fairly well, though I realize the biggest thing is regular cleaning and lubing.

I use their Campa grease and race oil. Race oil works great, but a bit dirty. Got it from Wiggle:

Looks like everywhere I checked so far is out of stock. Whats the diff between the chain cleaner and degreaser?

one of my local shops that carried it told me that Morgan Blue/their importer/distributor didn't want to deal with the regulatory/safely labeling required to continue selling in the States.
one of the shop owners is a former protour wrench and also mentioned that Morgan Blue was prickly to deal with and didn't care much about market outside EU.

The Morgan Blue stuff is naphtha based which is probably why it does well, but should be handled a bit more carefully and isn't necessarily environmentally friendly .

Cyclingtips did a really great article on degreasers a while ago: https://cyclingtips.com/2018/12/the-best-degreaser-for-bicycles/

Here's the gist of that article summarized in a table:

Thanks for the 'new to me' info dton!! I will check out the Pedros stuff.
If it works nearly as well as the Morgan Blue and is non-toxic and environmentally friendly then that is a big plus in my book!

Morgan Blue is just about the best stuff I've ever used to get grease off bike stuff.

Yes, I know it's not the safest thing for your skin, but it makes life SO much easier that I'll find some more once I run out of this little bit.

haven't tried the morgan blue but I can tell you the best degreaser I've ever used is by bike medicine, the guys who do purple extreme: golden degreaser. Got turned on to it at the shop where I now do some part time wrenching and it is good stuff. the nice thing is that it breaks down the grease/crud then is easily rinsed off with water. no affiliation whatsoever, just a good product not too many know about:

If the stuff is naptha based, then why not use mineral spirits or naptha (camp stove fuel). I'm sure that either would be much cheaper. I use Crown brand camp stove fuel that's $8.50 a gallon at Walmart.

Naptha dries a lot faster and it's cheaper than mineral spirits.
