Amazing.
Amazing man, amazing style, amazing schtick. I met him a couple of times, interviewed him once.
You only had to interview Dick once to get the whole complete Dick Dale story, told mostly in the third person. I asked one question and sat back and let the tape roll for 45 minutes.

Saw him last year @ the Iron Horse in Northampton, Ma. Even at his age it was a great show. He had a lot to do with Fender amp and guitars growing into what they became. Sorry to hear he's gone... the sound will live on!

Sad to hear.....a true original who kept playing the way he wanted to and didn't conform to what the suits wanted just to make money.
r.i.p. i got lucky and saw him play a few times. amazing, sad...

During the Academy Awards show in 1994 he put on an awesome display of his talents doing Miserlou live. Every time I see Pulp Fiction I think about that performance. Hard to believe that song was released in 1963.
I saw something about this a day or two ago which was then dismissed as a hoax... still not sure.
Kind of funny seeing news articles talking about his "rapid alternating picking style" and not calling it tremolo picking.

Yup a truly unique pioneer on the electric guitar that's for sure. RIP Mr. Dale.

This was him at 60. Sweet mother of god. May we all shred what we do at 60 the way Dick shredded this at 60.

If you look closely he is playing left handed guitar but it’s strung like an upside down right handed. I read he learned, first playing on an upside down right handed guitar and never really “unlearned” it. I’m sure that has a lot to do with his signature sound.
