Where do you folks buy you your gear and brake cables? I’m interested in Jagwire cables for SRAM.

Thanks

The local bike shop has cables generally, that’s where I get mine.

Unless you are looking for something really unique, that good ole LBS probably has Jagwire lots for you. Yup, lots of stuff like headsets and ders are sometimes better/easier ala interweb but consumables?..LBS, IMHO.

I go to my local shop with the Jagwire kit number (available on their web site), or the QBP catalog number, and ask them to order it for me.

Amazon has them pretty cheap. Here (https://www.amazon.com/JAGWIRE-Slick-Stainless-Shifter-Cables/dp/B01LXXAFV5/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=bicycle+shifter+cable&qid=1552742582&s=gateway&sr=8-3)

I went to my LBS recently for 2 der cables + housing as well as housing for 1 brake cable, a set of $11 bar tape, and a $10 degreaser and somehow the total over >$60. I was blown away how much cables and housing cost.

Go to your favorite grocery store or hardware and get non bike labeled degreaser and safe $1/2...in my store, innerwires $5 per, housing $2 per foot. Bar tape depends, about $8
$15+$12+$10+$11...$48*1.085(tax)=$52...
Not that outrageous, imho.

My LBS (Hi Jim), carries Jagwire in bulk boxes, cables and housing.
Also bottles of crimps. I do buy official Campy shifter cables,
which also work for Cyclo-Benlux shifters.

That seems cheap. Usually $20+ each for Jagwire/Shimano brake cables + housing, shift cables + housing, and name brand bar tape.

cables/housings are a good example of items you should keep on the shelf. easy enough to order in advance from many reputable online vendors. i always keep a few extra brake and shift cables in the bike cave in case i need them, and replace the spares before i need 'em.

i usually get these from ebay.
